Religulous
Religious is a movie coming from the wit of Bill Maher and directed by Larry Charles, who directed Borat. It is a movie where Bill criticizes religions and the way they affect society and the world. He uses comedy against major organized religions and they way they work. No religion is safe.

Ghost Town
Ghost Town is a movie starring Ricky Jervais and Greg Kinnear. Ricky plays a Dentist, a man who keeps to himself and is very neat and orderly and rude to everybody he meets. Ricky brings a sense of wit and sarcasm to this role that seems essential to get across the point of his role. Then one day an accident happens in a "routine" procedure and he dies for seven minutes. After coming to they do not tell him about this and he starts to see people. When he acknowledges these people, they cannot believe a human can see them and interact with them so they follow him so that he can help them. They never leave him alone and all want something from him, basically to be crossed over. Ricky finds himself in the middle relaying messages and doing the one thing he never likes to do, help people. After meeting the character played by Greg Kinnear he meets his widow. Greg wants him to tell her messages and to get to her to not marry this other man but Ricky finds himself falling in love with her. IT is a quirky movie with twists and turns. In the end he finds pure happiness in an unexpected way.

Oh, Hollywood
So recently it looks like all of the Hollywood A-listers are cleaning up their acts. Take Britney Spears for example. She went to rehab, (finally) and is now rebattling for her kids. I think she really has cleaned up and will probably do more acting jobs on television shows before she goes back to music. I hope she gets her kids back from K-Fed. It seems like he was in the marriage for the publicity and the money. He thinks for some reason that he is some gangsta but we all know he is just a skinny white boy.

I Am Legend
So Christmas Eve I saw I Am Legend. Now if you haven't really heard about this you should. It is a movie about a man, Robert Neville (Will Smith) who is the last man on Earth. A virus escaped that killed/mutated everyone on Earth but there was some people who were immune to the virus, like Robert. Robert has a dog, Sam or Samantha a German Shepard who is his really only companion. He kinda goes crazy in the movie as anyone would be when they have no human contact. He is the last man for 3 years as the movie takes place and you see flashbacks throughout the whole movie when he falls asleep. You really see all of the best parts it seems like through the commercials and the trailer. This movie was Will Smith's biggest movie ever and took in the most money of any December movie ever made. It seems to have a mutated/alien theme as most of Smith's movies. During the middle of it my mom got so freaked out, so she left and went to Target instead. I wouldn't suggest going to this if you don't like suspense or stuff popping out of nowhere. I will give this movie 5 out of 5 stars. It was one of the best movies I have seen in the year of 2007 and I am sure it will be a classic for years to come. The CGI is great, the acting is spectacular, and the plot is well developed. As all of my reviews, here is a trailer! Enjoy!
National Treasure: Book of Secrets
It's back! Nicholas Cage as treasure hunter Ben Gates must set off to clear his family's name once again. In the previous movie Ben set off to find the fortune of the Free Masons. He stole the Declaration of Independence, got into fights, and found a treasure worth more than any one man could handle. In the new movie, a man steps forth with a page from John Wilkes Booth diary claiming that Ben's great grandfather was a conspirator in the plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln, our 16th president. Ben and his father, Jon Voigt, know that this is a lie and they set off once again to find out the truth and to clear his name. Along the way they go around the world in this one which is a different pace than the last movie. They go to England, France, Mount Rushmore, Mount Vernon, and Washington DC. This was a suspensful movie, much better than the first one. I would give this movie 4 out of 5 stars aswell as The Golden Compass (See Below). I found that it is much like the first in the mentality of it, and that they could have made some better choices with the plot development and not made it so much like the first. I would suggest seeing the first if you haven't before seeing this. It is ranked #1 2 weekends in a row according to Yahoo! and I can see why. I suggest seeing this asap, it will be money well spent.
The Golden Compass
Well today I saw the Golden Compass. Contrary to what people thought about it, it is a GREAT movie! The CGI is fabulous as is the acting. It is a story of a girl, Lyra, who is an orphan. Each child in this world has a "Daemon" pronounced dee-men, and these daemons follow them for life. Now in the story if a daemon is hurt the "owner" feels the pain and vice versa, so basically if you kill one or the other then the other is dead. Nicole Kidman is in this and portrays marvelous acting and really shows great emotion in this to really make you feel like you are in the movie and experiencing this first hand. In the story Lyra has a Golden Compass that basically tells the truth. She can look into it and see what really happened in any given event that she chooses to see. This could come in handy in real life to see if your kid really did brush his teeth huh? :P I did not read the novels but I would think that they are pretty similar. They did leave a cliffhanger at the end suggesting another movie(s), like the Narnia movie did. I do give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars. I would have liked to see more plot development for as I thought the movie was sort of repetitive in some areas. But overall there is violence and some parts jump out at you which could be frightening for a child. I would suggest taking kids who are 10+ in age unless they have seen The Chronicles of Narnia, and were ok seeing that. Has the same violence factor with fights and war and that sorta stuff. Great movie though, definitely a must see!
